San Bernardino sheriff detective wounded in Antelope Valley probe, flown to hospital
A San Bernardino County sheriff’s detective was shot while investigating in Antelope Valley and was airlifted to a Lancaster hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
During an investigation in Antelope Valley on Wednesday afternoon, a detective from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department was hit by gunfire near the 13000 block of East Avenue R and 130 Street. The officer was taken by helicopter to a Lancaster medical facility and is reported to be in stable condition. Authorities indicated that at least one individual, believed to be a suspect, was killed, while a second suspect is still at large.
Aerial footage of the location showed two abandoned SUVs and a deputy’s ballistic vest on the ground. Los Angeles County fire officials coordinated the airlift, and dozens of Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the remote desert setting, which includes some ramshackle structures.
