Saudi Arabia Secures Permanent Hosting Rights for Next Three Asian Champions League Elite Finals

The Asian Football Confederation’s executive committee has turned Saudi Arabia’s temporary hosting arrangement for the Asian Champions League Elite finals into a permanent three-year deal. Jeddah hosted the first two editions, each won by local side Al-Ahli, who defeated Japanese clubs Kawasaki Frontale in 2025 and Machida Zelvia in the most recent final. The tournament will now feature a larger league stage, increasing from 24 to 32 teams, and the qualifying rounds are scheduled to start on August 11.

A draw for the expanded league phase will take place in Kuala Lumpur on August 18, with matches kicking off on September 14. Record holders Al-Hilal have won the competition four times, while Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds and South Korea’s Pohang Steelers have each lifted the trophy twice.
