Scott Jennings slams DOJ mishandling of Olympic canoeist case as a humiliating blunder

On a Friday discussion, Republican pundit Scott Jennings sharply criticized the Justice Department after it admitted there was no viable case against former Olympic canoeist David “Davey” Hearn for alleged Reflecting Pool vandalism, prompting the Trump administration to dismiss the indictment. Jennings likened the episode to a “monkey having intimate relations with a football,” calling it a public embarrassment for the department.

He asserted that Hearn deserves an apology and may need to sue to clear his name. Jeanine Pirro, who led the U.S. Attorney’s Office in D.C., had previously labeled Hearn a vandal during the indictment hearing. Democratic strategist Maria Cardona condemned the episode as evidence of the administration’s misuse of the DOJ, demanding Pirro’s removal and warning the scandal could hurt Republican chances in the midterm elections.
