The legislation would make citizenship verification mandatory for public housing authorities and prohibit undocumented individuals from accessing Sections 202 and 811, which serve low-income seniors and disabled persons.
Additionally, the bill would strip sanctuary cities of Community Development Block Grants, a federal source for affordable housing and local services, arguing that current Biden-era policies incentivize illegal immigration. Hagerty framed the measure as a safeguard against future administrations reversing these restrictions, emphasizing broad public support for the proposal.
