Senator Sanders reintroduces bill to guarantee two weeks of paid vacation for all full-time workers

Senator Bernie Sanders, serving as ranking member of the Senate HELP Committee, reintroduced the Guaranteed Paid Vacation Act, which would obligate employers to grant at least two weeks of paid vacation to every full-time employee. The bill has attracted co-sponsors Chris Murphy, Ed Markey, Ruben Gallego and Alex Padilla, and a parallel version was filed by Representative Seth Magaziner with 86 House members. Advocates argue the United States remains the sole major economy lacking a legal vacation floor, contrasting it with nations that guarantee ten or more days.

They point to data showing that more than one-quarter of American workers receive no paid vacation and many exceed 40-hour workweeks. Recent surveys indicate strong public support, with major labor unions and advocacy groups endorsing the measure.
