The Social Security Administration announced that September 2026 Supplemental Security Income checks will be dispatched to eligible recipients within 24 days. Individual beneficiaries may receive as much as $994, while married couples and caregivers have separate maximum amounts. SSI supports people with limited income who are blind, aged 65 or older, or who have a qualifying disability.

To qualify, recipients must be U.S. citizens or non-citizens in specific DHS-approved categories, live in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or the Northern Mariana Islands, and not be absent from the United States for a full calendar month or 30 consecutive days.
