SFA to convene crucial summit on Scottish football's future in St Andrews

The Scottish Football Association announced a "critically important" summit to be held on 4 September in St Andrews, inviting all clubs from the Scottish Professional Football League. The gathering will address the "current reality" of the sport in Scotland, with a particular emphasis on nurturing homegrown talent and identifying ways to increase club revenues. Organisers plan to hear from clubs that have refined their elite talent development models.

The meeting comes after the national team failed to progress beyond the group stage at the men’s World Cup, its first appearance at the finals since 1998. SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell and chief football officer Craig Mulholland will chair the summit. The forum seeks to shape strategies that could strengthen the domestic game and improve its financial sustainability.
