Shake Shack worker arrested after allegedly robbing restaurant with gun
A 33-year-old Shake Shack employee in Scottsdale was taken into custody after police say he held coworkers at gunpoint and stole about $2,800 from the safe.
Police say 33-year-old Keondre Simmons broke into a Shake Shack restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona, on August 3, using a semi-automatic handgun to threaten staff. He allegedly herded an employee into a walk-in cooler, ordered the on-duty manager to open the safe and hand over about $2,800, then locked the workers inside while destroying their cellphones and the business’s landline. Surveillance captured Simmons exiting the scene in a green SUV.
On Wednesday, he arrived for his shift in the same vehicle, was detained, and reportedly confessed to the gun’s whereabouts, leading officers to recover the weapon. The incident highlights a rare instance of an employee committing an armed robbery at his own workplace.
