Six killed, seventh injured in Madhya Pradesh crash involving wrong-way trailer

Six people died and another was seriously injured when a trailer traveling on the wrong side collided head-on with their car on the Badnawar-Ujjain highway in Madhya Pradesh.

Around early afternoon on Sunday, a vehicle carrying seven occupants returning to Gujarat from the Mahakaleshwar temple was hit head-on by a trailer that was driving on the wrong side of the Badnawar-Ujjain four-lane road near Panchkawasa village in Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh. The impact completely destroyed the car, killing six passengers on the spot; all six were identified as residents of Vadodara, Gujarat. The seventh occupant sustained serious injuries, was extracted from the wreckage with help from nearby residents, and was rushed by ambulance to Badnawar Civil Hospital for treatment.

Police in-charge Amit Singh Kushwah and Tehsildar Suresh Nagar reached the site shortly after being alerted, oversaw the removal of the bodies to the hospital mortuary, and informed families pending post-mortem reports. Traffic on the highway was temporarily disrupted before normal flow resumed. Authorities have opened a probe into the circumstances that led the trailer to travel on the wrong side of the road.
