Six-year-old Emmy Bridgers dies before scheduled tonsillectomy, community mourns
Emersyn “Emmy” Bridgers, a six-year-old from Bartow County, Georgia, passed away before a planned routine tonsil surgery, leaving her school and neighbors grieving.
Emersyn “Emmy” Bridgers, age six, was scheduled for a routine tonsil removal when she unexpectedly died, according to the Bartow County Coroner’s Office. Coroner Joel Guyton said investigators are waiting for her medical records to determine what treatment preceded her death, while the Georgia Bureau of Investigation conducts an autopsy. Emmy had recently finished kindergarten at Euharlee Elementary and was excited to start first grade.
The school district described her as caring and called her “Little Momma.” A community-wide fundraiser was launched, and the local funeral home will pay for the services, with a memorial ride planned in her favorite color, pink.
