Slipknot dismisses longtime DJ Sid Wilson after nearly three decades
Slipknot has terminated DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson, who had been with the band since 1998, according to reports.
Sid Wilson, the turntable and keyboard player who joined Slipknot in 1998 and performed under the moniker “#0,” was told on Friday afternoon that his tenure with the Grammy-winning metal outfit was over. The band has not explained the decision and has yet to name a successor. Wilson’s exit comes shortly after his engagement to Kelly Osbourne ended earlier this year, and he has since shared photos showing singed eyebrows, facial burns and a blistered lip while confirming he is on the mend.
Slipknot, formed in Des Moines in 1995, has seen numerous lineup shifts, including the loss of original members such as bassist Paul Gray and drummer Joey Jordison. Today, only vocalist Corey Taylor, percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan, and guitarists Mick Thomson and Jim Root remain from the classic roster. The group’s future sound may evolve as it seeks to fill Wilson’s role.
