Small plane executes emergency landing on Main Street in Ukiah

At approximately 10:45 a.m., a private Cessna attempted to land on North Main Street in downtown Ukiah after experiencing fuel and engine difficulties while heading toward the municipal airport. The pilot emerged from the crash uninjured, and the adult co-pilot suffered minor injuries that did not require treatment. The plane brushed against power lines, yet no power loss was reported, and the landing caused no damage to buildings, cars, animals or pedestrians.

Local police, the National Transportation Safety Board and staff from Ukiah Airport responded to the scene and are conducting a joint investigation. The aircraft’s wings will be removed before the plane is towed away from the street. The incident occurred near the intersection of North Main and East Smith streets, and the California Highway Patrol was also present.
