Social media star sentenced after alleged romances with up to 75 inmates

Ash Trevino, a self-described “inmate-hopping” influencer with more than 500,000 followers, was sentenced to two years of probation after admitting to welfare and healthcare fraud. Court filings claim she engaged in romantic relationships with between 50 and 75 inmates of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, including individuals convicted of aggravated robbery and murder. The fraud case covered deceptive applications for SNAP and Medicaid benefits from May 2019 through July 2024, resulting in a $16,799.95 fine, 120 hours of community service, and enrollment in an anti-theft program.

Trevino was arrested in Venus, Texas, and previously violated bail by consuming alcohol at a birthday party, leading to a prohibition on visiting establishments that serve alcohol. She did not enter a plea regarding the alleged inmate relationships. The sentencing reflects the court’s focus on her financial crimes rather than the purported romantic conduct.
