Sonam Wangchuk says Rahul Gandhi ignored his wife's request to end hunger strike

During a 26-day hunger strike at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar, Sonam Wangchuk said his spouse Gitanjali tried to secure Rahul Gandhi's assistance in ending the fast, but the Congress leader gave no affirmative answer. Wangchuk further alleged that Union ministers J P Nadda and Jitendra Singh broke a promise not to release images of them offering soup before the protest concluded, deepening his disillusionment with political leaders.

He noted that few opposition figures arrived at the site, and most came late, which contributed to his wife's criticism of Rahul. Gitanjali later became the target of online attacks after questioning Rahul's protest tactics and denouncing the BJP and Hindutva forces, while the Congress circle reportedly turned against her. Wangchuk expressed support for the CJP movement, describing it as an apolitical group advocating for fairness and the voiceless, and welcomed its decision to stay out of electoral politics.
