Sony may unveil budget-friendly WH-1000XM4C headphones next month
Leaks suggest Sony plans to launch a lower-priced version of its WH-1000XM4 headphones, dubbed the WH-1000XM4C, as early as September.
A credible source, identified as billbil-kun, reports that Sony is preparing a more affordable iteration of its WH-1000XM4 noise-cancelling headphones, labeled WH-1000XM4C. The model would retain key specifications such as Sony’s QN1 ANC chip, spatial audio, hi-res support, and touch-controlled earcups, while trimming the price to about €249.99 or £219.99 (approximately $289-$297). Available colours include black, silver, and lavender, with a launch slated for early September 2026.
The only notable compromise is a modest reduction in battery endurance, dropping to 34 hours total or 27 hours with active noise cancellation, versus the original’s 38/30 hours. This move follows Sony’s recent release of the premium $650 Collexion headphones and may appeal to fans of the older 2020 design who prefer its folding earcups.
