South Australian principal cleared after misconduct investigation

In November, the Education Department stood down Tamarin Condon, then principal of Wallaroo Mines Primary School in Kadina, following an online petition that called for a review of her leadership and cited alleged unprofessional behaviour. The controversy centred on reports that she had invited her husband, Simon Condon, a former student support officer, to assist at a school camp despite not being employed by the school.

After a thorough inquiry, the department announced that no misconduct was found and appointed a new principal to the school. Officials said they would not discuss the specifics of the investigation to protect privacy. One outlet reported that parents claimed officials had questioned students about Condon's conduct, and two parents had approached police, though no police investigation was opened. Condon's attorney, Luke Officer, praised the findings and warned against public commentary that could harm reputations without proof.
