Special Court Files Anti-Terror and Murder Charges in Antilia Bomb Plot

A special court in Mumbai has officially framed anti-terror and murder charges against ten individuals linked to the 2021 Antilia bomb scare and the subsequent murder of Mansukh Hiran. The accused include former police officers Sachin Waze, Sunil Mane and Pradept Sharma, who all pleaded not guilty. Charges were filed under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act as well as the Indian Penal Code, carrying a possible death sentence.

Prosecutors claim Waze masterminded the deployment of an SUV packed with explosives near industrialist Mukesh Ambani's home and that the conspirators later abducted Hiran, killing him because he threatened to expose the plot. Additional suspects are alleged to have supplied SIM cards, destroyed evidence, or participated in the conspiracy. The court’s decision follows a five-year gap since the SUV was discovered on February 25, 2021, and the case now proceeds toward trial.
