Spencer Pratt, a former Los Angeles mayoral candidate and reality-TV figure, used his X account to denounce Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul el Sayed as a communist, adding that the candidate is “embarrassingly cringe.” Pratt’s remarks were triggered by a TikTok clip where el Sayed performed a parody of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” inserting lyrics about voting for someone who would eliminate political money and expand Medicare.

El Sayed, who secured the Democratic primary win in Michigan, has publicly rejected the communist and socialist tags, saying he views capitalism as viable on a local level if universally accessible. The criticism echoes similar attacks from Donald Trump, who also called el Sayed a communist and accused him of hating Jews and Israel. Despite the harsh language, el Sayed maintains his campaign focus on policy reforms rather than ideological labels.
