Spokane Velocity's trip to New York postponed after travel delays

A scheduled USL League One contest between Spokane Velocity and New York Cosmos at Hinchliffe Stadium was called off after the Spokane squad faced travel delays, according to the league's website. The match, originally slated for 4 p.m. on Saturday, will be replayed at a later date that has yet to be set. This is the second consecutive game for Spokane to be postponed, the first being a lightning-induced delay in Chattanooga, Tennessee, against the Red Wolves.

Despite the disruption, the Velocity sit fifth in the standings with a record of 10-2-6 and a four-match winning run across all competitions. They will now prepare for their inaugural USL Cup knockout appearance at ONE Spokane Stadium on Wednesday, facing Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, a team that has allowed 1.4 goals per game and kept only two clean sheets. Spokane's attack, led by Shavon John-Brown’s five goals and two assists, will look to capitalize on the Switchbacks' defensive vulnerabilities.
