The State Department announced that visas for five foreign nationals have been revoked after they were taken into custody for drunken driving incidents on American roads. Spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the individuals broke the terms of their visas and posed a danger to the public, prompting immediate action. One person faced charges including disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and domestic violence, while another was caught driving a minor with a blood-alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit.
Additional cases involved blood-alcohol concentrations three times the limit, failure to attend a court-ordered DUI program, causing injury to another driver, and possession of heroin alongside severe intoxication. The department stressed its ongoing vetting process to prevent dangerous visa holders from remaining in the United States.
