Steelers add safety Israel Mukuamu, release cornerback Ahmari Harvey

On Thursday morning the Pittsburgh Steelers finalized the addition of safety Israel Mukuamu, a former Dallas Cowboys defensive back who was coached by Mike McCarthy, and simultaneously waived cornerback Ahmari Harvey to free up space on the offseason roster. Mukuamu’s agency announced the agreement, which follows his release from the Cowboys. Harvey, who played college football at Georgia Tech and signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in May before being released, had joined the Steelers in June.

During his college career he recorded four interceptions. This signing marks the second veteran safety, after Rayshawn Jenkins, added by Pittsburgh this month. The Steelers will begin preseason play on Aug. 13 against the Green Bay Packers, with training-camp updates expected from Latrobe.
