Stefon Diggs signs with Washington Commanders after Patriots release
Former Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs has agreed to join the Washington Commanders following his release during free agency.
Stefon Diggs, who spent the entire offseason as a free agent, has signed a contract with the Washington Commanders, according to NFL Network. The former New England Patriots wideout recorded 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four scores while serving as the primary option for rookie quarterback Drake Maye. The Patriots released Diggs to avoid a $26.5 million cap hit for 2026, opting instead to acquire Romeo Doubs from Green Bay and trade for three-time All-Pro A.J.
Brown from Philadelphia. Diggs' move gives him a chance to impact a rebuilding Commanders team that features emerging quarterback Jayden Daniels. His addition follows a comeback season after a torn ACL injury suffered while with the Houston Texans the year before. The signing marks a new chapter for the four-time Pro Bowler as he transitions to a different franchise.
