Study Links Higher Pre-Injury Minutes to NBA Achilles Ruptures
Research on NBA Achilles tears found players logged more minutes in the weeks before injury than their season average.
A new medical analysis examined cases of Achilles tendon ruptures among NBA athletes. The data showed that, in the ten- and fifteen-game spans preceding each injury, affected players logged more playing time than they typically did over the season. The study did not find meaningful links between the injuries and factors such as age, position, role, early sport specialization, or schedule congestion.
