Sunbird Messaging Returns to Android with Updated iMessage Bridge Service

Sunbird Messaging is back on the Google Play Store, offering Android users iMessage capabilities—including blue bubbles, reactions, and HD video—for $2.99 per month. The relaunch follows a three-year hiatus after security issues forced the service offline in 2023. The company asserts that messages are encrypted on the device, protected in transit via certificate-pinned links, and stored with AES-256 encryption, with media automatically removed after 48 to 72 hours.

Sunbird’s CEO Danny Mizrahi said an independent security firm found no critical vulnerabilities in the rebuilt app and that Apple’s native iMessage encryption remains untouched. Users log in with their Apple ID password once, which is then discarded, and no persistent authentication tokens are kept. The platform also supports Google Messages and SMS, and plans to add WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and an AI assistant later this year.
