Sunfyre Returns to Save Aegon in House of the Dragon Episode Seven

Episode seven shows Aegon Targaryen emerging from hardship to face a Rhaenyra-aligned force, accompanied solely by Tywin Lannister. As the opposing troops falter, a dragon's roar echoes from the forest, initially thought to be Vhagar but later identified as Sunfyre, Aegon's own mount. Although half of its face is missing, Sunfyre proves functional enough to incinerate the enemy ranks.

Director Nina Lopez-Corrado clarified that Sunfyre was not resurrected by magic but had merely been in a near-death state, recovering through time and the strong connection with Aegon. This revival diverges from the books, where the dragon feeds on carcasses to regain strength. The sequence is praised as one of the series' most striking moments, reshaping viewers' perception of Aegon's character.
