TCU's 2026 season opener in Dublin highlighted by former star Joseph Turner

TCU football is set to begin its 2026 season with a game versus North Carolina in Dublin, Ireland on Aug. 29, and the ongoing Countdown to Kickoff series has reached the 24-day mark. The feature honors former Horned Frog running back Joseph Turner, whose jersey number matches the days remaining. Turner was named the program’s Offensive MVP in 2007 and earned All-Mountain West recognition in 2009, accumulating 2,094 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns on 432 carries.

Over his four-year career he appeared in 47 games, surpassing 100 carries in each of his final three seasons and posting a career-high 754 yards in 2009. After graduating, he began coaching at Fort Worth North Side in 2013, became its head coach two years later, and after nine seasons moved to lead Fort Worth Southwest.
