Teen Father Charged After Leaving Infant in 91°F Phoenix Apartment

On July 29, Phoenix authorities were alerted to a ten-month-old girl left alone in a 91-degree apartment near 7th Street and Grovers Avenue. Maintenance workers found the child confined to a stroller with a bottle containing a quarter-inch of rancid milk, while the unit’s air conditioning was disabled and windows were ajar. Police transported the infant to a nearby hospital for medical assessment and remained at the residence for nearly two hours awaiting the father’s return, which never occurred.

Apartment records confirmed Andre L. Farris Jr. as the leaseholder, and family members verified his paternity. Farris arrived at the hospital later, was arrested on felony child-abuse charges, and released on a $25,000 bond pending a court appearance.
