Teenager dies after medical emergency at Kendal Calling festival in Cumbria
A 17-year-old girl suffered a medical episode and died early Saturday at the Kendal Calling music festival in Cumbria.
Cumbria Police confirmed that a 17-year-old female attendee died at the Kendal Calling music festival in the early hours of Saturday after a medical episode at about 02:15 BST. Despite rapid assistance from on-site security, medical staff and arriving paramedics, she was declared dead at the venue. Investigators are asking anyone who was in the vicinity of the Calling Out tent and the nearby Big Wheel at that time, particularly a group of women who first alerted responders, to come forward.
The victim’s relatives have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Festival representatives said they are fully cooperating with authorities and expressed deep sorrow, extending condolences to the family. The incident remains under police review.
