Teenagers in ski masks ring doorbell at Gilgo Beach killer's home

Footage from a doorbell camera showed two teenagers wearing ski masks ring the bell at the Long Island house where convicted serial killer Gary Heuermann once lived. Asa Ellerup, Heuermann’s ex-wife, and her two children were present when the youths quickly ran off the front porch. The family’s attorney described the episode as another episode of daily harassment, citing previous incidents of littering and photographing the home.

After filing a police report, the family noted that their Labrador mix, Stewie, barked loudly, though the dog’s barking appears to have begun after the intruders had already fled. Nassau County police determined the event did not meet the threshold for an attempted break-in charge and later conducted a neighborhood patrol that did not locate the suspects. Heuermann, 62, is serving multiple life sentences for the murders of eight women between 1993 and 2010.
