Ten Cheltenham High football players and coaches charged in severe hazing case

A grand jury indictment led to ten individuals from Cheltenham High School's football program being charged with crimes stemming from two hazing incidents in 2025. Video taken by two underage players captured a sophomore teammate restrained while a broomstick was pressed against his buttocks, and later footage showed further kicking and cleat-stomping. Witnesses corroborated the assaults, and the victim described curling into a ball to protect his head while being punched and kicked.

Four coaches, after learning of the second attack, communicated with the victim and each other, urging him not to tell his mother, and opted to address the matter internally rather than involve school officials. The coaches are charged with endangering the welfare of a child and conspiracy to endanger, while players face assault and related offenses. The school cancelled the football season after the allegations were reported through an anonymous app.
