The Rookie has been officially renewed for a ninth season, but it will not appear in one outlet’s fall schedule. Instead, the network plans a mid-season premiere, probably in early January 2027, as announced at Disney’s Upfront event. Showrunner Alexi Hawley, speaking at San Diego Comic-Con, said the upcoming season will feature notable differences and will open with a two-part episode.
The series will share a Monday night slot with its spin-off, The Rookie: North, which stars Jay Ellis, Janet Montgomery, Karen Fukuhara, Chris Sullivan, Froy Gutierrez, Mya Lowe and Malik Watson. Fans can still stream seasons one through eight on Hulu and Disney+. The show joins other high-profile returns this August, though it will not debut until the following year.
