Thousands Evacuated as Multiple Wildfires Rage Across British Columbia

British Columbia is battling six major wildfires as of Tuesday morning, with a total of about 120 blazes across the province and over 50 classified as out of control. Evacuation orders have been issued for roughly 7,300 properties, while another 3,800 households have been told to be ready to leave at short notice. The Vernon region bears the brunt of the crisis, as the Quilpituk Creek and Bradley Creek fires continue to spread, destroying several homes and leaving damage assessments incomplete.

The Bradley Creek fire ignited on Friday, expanded rapidly on Saturday under extreme wind conditions, and now covers about 260 hectares. Authorities, including the B.C. Wildfire Service, the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness, and the chief of the Okanagan Indian Band, are preparing to provide further updates. Residents report total loss of possessions, and officials have not indicated a significant increase in the fire’s size since Sunday.
