Three former TMC MPs to meet Modi for breakfast on Friday
Three minority MPs who left the Trinamool Congress for the Nationalist Citizens Party of India will have breakfast with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.
Abu Taher Khan, Khalilur Rahaman and Yusuf Pathan, the three minority legislators who defected from Trinamool Congress to join the Nationalist Citizens Party of India, are slated to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi over breakfast on Friday. They previously met Union minister Amit Shah to raise concerns about SIR tribunals and the removal of mosque loudspeakers. While they have avoided earlier NDA gatherings, a broader delegation that includes the other 17 NCPI legislators and six Shiv Sena MPs supportive of the NDA will also attend the prime minister’s meeting.
Why it matters
The meeting shows dissenting minority MPs seeking dialogue with the prime minister despite not joining the ruling coalition.
