Three men charged with attempted murder after assault on Filipino crew in Avonmouth

At about 20:30 BST on Friday, police were called to Richmond Terrace close to Avonmouth Docks after a large group attacked three Filipino crew members of a cargo ship. One man suffered serious injuries and remains in critical condition, a second was treated and later discharged, and a third incurred only minor wounds. Avon and Somerset Police arrested two men, aged 19 and 45, and a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder, while a 38-year-old woman was detained for allegedly assisting an offender.

Superintendent Deepak Kenth confirmed that racist language was used during the assault and that the incident is being investigated as a hate crime. He clarified that no knife or similar weapon was involved and that the event appears isolated with no broader public safety threat. Police have appealed for further information from the public.
