Tom Garfinkel steps down as Dolphins CEO after 13 years, remains vice chairman
Tom Garfinkel announced he will leave his role as president and CEO of the Miami Dolphins after 13 years, while staying on as vice chairman of the franchise and Hard Rock Stadium.
Tom Garfinkel confirmed his departure from the Miami Dolphins' president and CEO positions after a 13-year tenure, though he will retain the vice chairman title for the franchise and Hard Rock Stadium and oversee the Miami Grand Prix as managing partner. In his statement, Garfinkel lauded the franchise’s strong business standing and the talent of the staff, thanking the South Florida community and owner Stephen M. Ross for the opportunity.
Ross praised Garfinkel’s record, noting a 400 percent rise in annual revenue, a $3 billion sponsorship pipeline, and the privately funded $550 million stadium transformation. He also cited the growth of the Dolphins Cancer Challenge as the NFL’s largest charitable fundraiser. The announcement coincided with the creation of Ross Sports & Entertainment, which consolidates the Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium, the Miami Grand Prix, the Miami Open tennis event and the Precision Drive Club, with Daniel Sillman named chief executive of the new entity. Garfinkel expressed optimism about the team’s future under Danny Sillman's guidance.
