Toowoomba mother Jana Armstrong laid to rest after alleged murder charge

Approximately one hundred people attended Jana Armstrong’s funeral in the country town of Millmerran, where she was interred next to her parents Robyn and Ronnie and grandmother Margaret Hughes. The 30-year-old, remembered for her caring nature and devotion to her baby boy, had been found dead in bushland near Toowoomba a month earlier, leading to the arrest and charging of her child's father for murder. Speakers included her sister Faith Isaacs, who is now caring for the infant, brother Dean Armstrong, who read a poem, and celebrant Janice Holstein, who called the death senseless.

Attendees wore green, her favourite colour, and an Auslan interpreter assisted, reflecting her deaf father's influence. A photographic tribute set to the song “Forever in our Hearts” was shown as the coffin was lowered.
