Top K-pop choreographer launches AI platform to democratize dance creation

Veteran K-pop choreographer Youngjun Choi and tech partner Joon Jung have founded MVND, an AI-driven service that lets anyone generate dance routines from a phone.

After two decades shaping iconic K-pop dances—including BTS’s “I Need U” and Seventeen’s “Falling Flower”—Youngjun Choi partnered with former dancer-turned-tech entrepreneur Joon Jung to launch MVND, an AI-enabled choreography platform. The company aims to solve the industry’s intellectual-property and compensation gaps by allowing creators to upload routines, receive credit, and earn a share of any AI-generated work that uses their moves.

MVND secured $200,000 in seed funding from Seoul-based Mashup Ventures and is now opening a pre-Series A round targeting $10 million. The service currently hosts over 1,100 users and more than 2,000 generated routines, initially appealing to casual meme creators. MVND has also collaborated with Epic Games Korea to integrate its music-to-dance AI into Unreal Engine, showcasing potential for animation and interactive media. Choi emphasizes that the technology is meant to assist, not replace, human choreographers, likening it to design tools such as Canva.
