Top Latino groups unite to launch massive voter outreach ahead of 2026 midterms

Four major Latino civic organizations have formed a coalition to coordinate voter registration and turnout efforts targeting more than 5 million Latino voters before the 2026 midterm elections.

In a historic first, UnidosUS, the LULAC Institute, Mi Familia en Acción and the Latino Victory Foundation have merged their voter-engagement operations under a single, nonpartisan campaign aimed at the 2026 midterms. The coalition targets over five million Latino voters, seeks to add a quarter-million new registrants and aims to lift turnout by at least five percent by 2028, making it the largest coordinated effort of its kind.

Resources will be concentrated in battleground and fast-growing states—including Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida, Ohio, Colorado, New Mexico and California—where House and Senate races are expected to be highly competitive. The initiative was unveiled at the Unidos annual conference in Austin, Texas, where community leaders highlighted the Latino bloc’s expanding electoral weight, now the nation’s second-largest voting group.

Meanwhile, Republican groups such as LIBRE Action, linked to the Koch network, are campaigning to protect the Latino support gained in 2024, even as polls indicate growing dissatisfaction with the administration’s handling of cost-of-living and immigration issues. Speakers like Texas voter Tania Chavez Camacho stressed the need for deeper outreach to disengaged Latino voters who feel unaffiliated with either major party.

Why it matters

The coalition could shape the balance of power in Congress by mobilizing a rapidly growing Latino electorate.
