Treasury official promotes Trump Accounts as tool to teach capitalism to youth
Comptroller Jonathan Gould said the new Trump Accounts program could improve financial knowledge among young Americans and counter socialist ideas.
At a planning session for the Financial Literacy and Education Commission, Comptroller of the Currency Jonathan Gould highlighted the recently introduced Trump Accounts. He explained that the platform gives young people hands-on exposure to how the U.S. financial system functions, which he believes will encourage saving, fraud protection and active participation in the market. Gould linked financial illiteracy to the spread of what he called "poisonous" socialist ideologies in colleges and certain cities.
By offering practical experience, he said the program could produce a generation that values capitalism and contributes to community wealth. He framed the initiative as an antidote to ideological trends he views as harmful.
Why it matters
The program aims to shape young voters' economic views by linking financial education to political ideology.
