Tribe opens new Palm Springs gas station offering some of California's lowest prices

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians opened its second Agua Caliente Fuel station in Palm Springs on Saturday, featuring pump prices that align with the city’s cheapest gasoline and sit well below California’s $5.65 statewide average. Posted rates included $5.13 for regular unleaded, $5.38 for mid-grade, $5.63 for premium and $6.03 for diesel. The 9,500-square-foot facility also contains a convenience store and a 2,900-square-foot gaming area with 90 slot machines, more than double the offering at the tribe’s 2021 Rancho Mirage location.

Profits flow directly into the tribe’s treasury, funding public services and community programs, and the fuel is taxed only at the federal level due to tribal sovereignty. The opening follows the success of the first station, which has drawn long lines of drivers seeking relief from soaring gas costs. A third station is being built near the tribe’s Cathedral City casino, further extending the network that already includes travel centers in Coachella and Cabazon.
