A Daily Beast investigation uncovered that Zach Lahn, the Trump-endorsed contender for Iowa governor, has been living in a $2 million mansion in Wichita, Kansas, rather than the Iowa farm he promotes. He and his wife Annie, formerly linked to billionaire donor Charles Koch, bought the Kansas property in 2024 and later transferred it to an LLC, apparently to conceal his actual residence. Records indicate he never claimed an Iowa home as his primary residence, waived the Iowa Homestead Tax Credit in 2021, and voted in Kansas elections in 2018, 2020 and 2022, despite later stating he voted in Iowa in 2024.
Flight logs show frequent trips from Wichita to Iowa campaign events, and he also owns a near-$5 million ski-in mansion in Whitefish, Montana. The residency controversy has sparked carpet-bagging criticism from opponent Rob Sand’s campaign as the gubernatorial contest remains close, with polls showing Iowa voters value long-term state residency.
