Murphy also matched the record for four consecutive century breaks, a feat he has achieved twice.

Ronnie O'Sullivan began his campaign with a 6-2 win over Jackson Page after recovering from an early deficit. The tournament, the first main ranking event of the 2026-27 snooker season, is staged in Taiyuan, about 310 miles southwest of Beijing, with the champion set to earn £250,000.
