Turkey to Acquire 20 Eurofighter Typhoons in £2.5 billion Deal with BAE Systems
Turkey has signed a contract to purchase 20 Eurofighter Typhoon jets from the United Kingdom, with deliveries slated between 2030 and 2032.
A £2.5 billion contract has been finalized for Turkey to buy 20 Eurofighter Typhoon fighters from the United Kingdom, marking the program’s tenth export customer. The aircraft will be built to the Tranche 4 specification and equipped with both air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons and mission pods. Production has already commenced, with the first six jets scheduled for delivery in 2030 and the remaining fourteen by 2032.
BAE Systems, the prime contractor, will also supply spare parts, maintenance services and a three-year support window once the jets enter service. Training for Turkish pilots and about 100 maintenance instructors is underway in the UK, led by the Royal Air Force. In parallel, Turkey is pursuing a deal for used Typhoons from Qatar to fill the capability gap until the new aircraft arrive.
