Two men hospitalized in serious condition after building collapse in Ultimo
A wall and roof gave way at a construction site in Ultimo, Sydney, injuring two men who were taken to hospitals in serious condition.
At approximately 11 a.m. on Monday, a construction-site building in Ultimo, Sydney, partially collapsed, sending a wall and roof onto adjacent cars. Fire and Rescue New South Wales arrived to find two men, one in his 60s and another in his 30s, trapped under the debris; both were extracted and taken to St Vincent's Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in serious condition. Paramedics evaluated five other individuals on the scene, none of whom required hospitalisation.
The site, previously used as a rehearsal studio and slated for demolition to make way for a mixed-use tower, prompted the evacuation of surrounding structures, including a nearby service station. Three FRNSW teams, including urban search and rescue units, remain on site to assess any further structural risk. Macroview Projects, the manager of the redevelopment, has been contacted for comment.
