Two teens discovered dead in DeLand after returning to spread a dog’s ashes
Police in DeLand, Florida, found 19-year-old Dustin Rose and 18-year-old Samson Campbell dead in a vacant lot on Wednesday night, both having been shot multiple times.
DeLand police reported that Dustin "DJ" Rose, 19, and Samson Campbell, 18, were found dead in a vacant lot shortly before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, both having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. The young men had returned to DeLand to spread the ashes of Campbell’s beloved dog, Hinata. Rose was attending The Citadel Military College and had recently joined the South Carolina Army National Guard; Campbell had been living with his aunt Karen Chobin in the Chicago area.
Surveillance video showed the two walking together on Tuesday evening, and a relative later discovered their bodies after they failed to answer calls. Police have not disclosed a motive or named any suspects, and detectives continue to investigate. Authorities have asked the public to provide any tips through Crime Watch or the Criminal Investigations Division.
