Tyler Higbee signs extension as Rams lean on versatile tight ends

Veteran tight end Tyler Higbee re-signed with the Los Angeles Rams for two more years and aims to justify the club’s confidence in his multi-role abilities.

Tyler Higbee, the longest-serving member of the Los Angeles Rams, agreed to a two-year extension in March, ensuring his presence for an 11th season. At 33, he has battled a serious knee injury from the 2024 wild-card game and an ankle issue that limited his 2025 play, yet he posted 25 catches for 281 yards and three scores in ten games last year. Coach Sean McVay called Higbee the greatest tight end in Rams history, citing his franchise-leading numbers in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns.

The team’s recent shift to multiple tight-end sets, featuring players like Colby Parkinson, Terrance Ferguson and Davis Allen, relies on Higbee’s ability to contribute in both the passing and running games and to serve as a blocker. Drafting second-round tight end Max Klare adds depth, allowing the Rams to continue refining their tight-end-heavy packages. Higbee expressed confidence that a healthy offseason will let him be even more productive as the squad builds on last season’s success.
