Tyquan Thornton, a Kansas City Chiefs wideout, spoke to the media following a Thursday practice at Missouri Western State University about why he chose to re-sign with the club as a free agent. He pointed to the franchise’s storied past, its emphasis on clean football, and the high level of competition as primary factors. The presence of quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the opportunity to learn from head coach Andy Reid and a highly regarded coaching staff further convinced him.
Thornton noted that the team will need his contributions early, given Rashee Rice’s six-game suspension and Xavier Worthy’s injury. He expressed confidence in expanding his role and surpassing his 2025 totals of 19 catches, 438 yards and three touchdowns. The Chiefs originally acquired him from the New England Patriots at the end of 2024 as a developmental prospect.
