Ubisoft to shut down NFT-based Champions Tactics game by October 30

Ubisoft has decided to retire its NFT-centric strategy game Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, scheduling the shutdown of all game servers for October 30. The decision caps a series of steps that began in May when the company said it would strip the title of its Web3 components. Launched in 2024, the game attempted to capitalize on a blockchain-based model that let players mint and trade battle units, despite the broader NFT craze having faded years earlier.

A Discord post, cited by one outlet, confirmed the final closure date. Ubisoft acknowledges a modest but dedicated player base, yet many expected the shutdown. To retain those users, the firm is directing them toward its upcoming deck-builder Might and Magic Fates, promising rewards for those who transfer their accounts.
