Chesney also asked Rams coach Sean McVay for advice on the logistical challenges of traveling across multiple time zones, citing the NFL team's high win rate on such trips.

Roberts, who contributed to the search committee that hired Chesney, offered counsel emphasizing authenticity and player care. Podcaster Bill Simmons, an alumnus of Holy Cross, has repeatedly praised Chesney on social media and joined him for a dinner with UCLA alumni.
