UK Charity Leader Arrested Over Alleged Hamas Funding Scheme
British authorities have detained Mohammad Yousef Hasna, the global director of the Al-Khair Foundation, after a U.S. indictment accused him of channeling money and supplies to Hamas.
A U.S. indictment obtained by the Daily one outlet claims the FBI uncovered evidence that Mohammad Yousef Hasna, global director of the Al-Khair Foundation, turned the charity into a conduit for financing Hamas. According to the filing, Hasna coordinated with high-level Hamas contacts such as Ghazi Hamad to collect donations and ship “truckloads” of goods to the group, while disguising the operation as humanitarian aid.
The indictment also states that a charity employee, Hossam Mansour, was killed in 2024 while acting as a Hamas platoon commander. In response, the Metropolitan Police and the Charity Commission have launched probes, and the charity has been barred from spending money without commission sign-off. Hasna was arrested by the National Crime Agency and faces extradition to the United States. The case raises questions about the vetting of Islamic charities in Britain and their ties to foreign extremist groups.
